Polyaspartic flooring will take your garage to the next level.
If you’ve been researching which kind of floor coating to use in your garage, it’s likely you’ve encountered two words: epoxy and polyaspartic. You may have even heard the term “flake floor”, which refers to the latter.
Let’s Take a Closer Look at Polyaspartic Flooring?
What is polyaspartic floor coating?
Polyaspartic is a hybrid material that isn’t unlike polyurethane. It’s been on the scene for about 30 years and is a mix of ester and other materials. It was originally developed to be used as a coating for steel bridges but works well on garage floors, too. Its finish is clear and glossy in its original form, but you can add color or color chips for a more interesting look.
ADVANTAGES OF POLYASPARTIC FLOOR COATINGS
There are plenty of perks to choosing polyaspartic coatings:
- Temperature – There are no problems with extreme temperatures as with epoxy coating. You can apply it during any sort of weather conditions.
- Style and design – As with epoxy, you can customize your polyaspartic floor coating in whatever color you choose and with chip additives as well.
- Good air quality – There’s no off-gassing with polyaspartic coatings and the level of VOCs (volatile organic compounds) in the coating is fairly low.
- Quick drying – Unlike epoxy, these coatings dry in under an hour, making them perfect for the consumer who’s in a hurry to get this project done.
- Colorfast – UV rays and other factors won’t make the color of polyaspartic coatings fade.
- Durability – These coatings don’t become quite as rigid as epoxy. They maintain some flexibility so scratches and dents are less likely to happen.
